All About Lauren Smith
I am currently studying art at West Lothian College. I have been researching movements such as dada, conceptualism, pop art and others. This has helped me to realise why I would like to continue to express and communicate my thoughts and ideas in the work that I make.
I believe meaning is important more so than the aesthetics, however art can still be beautiful. My work is conceptual, I combine ways of working making both 2D and 3D works. I enjoy experimenting with video and projection to create installations.
I am currently researching into feminism and the way men objectify, sexualise and stereotype women in the media, in art and in life. Social media and the expectations we have also being factor. Recently my work and research has taken a route looking more into the idea of preservation and women. Why do we feel we must be perfect always and forever?
